Getting started

This guide takes a laboratory from installing CLARUS Prime on its computer to releasing its first report. The complete manual is inside the program, under Help: it describes every screen, works without internet and prints on paper.

1.Check the computer

A computer with Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). Everything the program needs is inside the installer: there is no separate database to install and no internet connection is required.

2.Install

• Download the installer from our site and run it.
• Accept the licence agreement and the data and privacy notice.
• Choose where to install, and the language and appearance the program opens in.
• The installer creates your laboratory's own database on this computer and registers it so that it starts again by itself after a power cut. Run the installer with administrator rights for this step.

3.Trial or activation

A trial serial starts immediately and needs no internet: every feature works for 14 days.

A purchased serial activates over the internet during setup, or later from the licence screen inside the program. If the laboratory computer has no internet, open claruslis.com/activate on any phone, type the serial and the installation code the licence screen shows, and enter the code the page gives you back. One serial activates one computer.

4.Enter your laboratory's identity first

The first time the program opens, it asks for the laboratory's name and details. Fill them in before you register the first patient: they print on every report you will issue.

5.Sign in and create the accounts

Sign in with the administrator account created at installation. Then create an account for each person, with the permissions their work needs and no more. Each person opens on the workspace their role uses: reception, laboratory or management.

6.Your first patient and report

• Register the patient. Sex and date of birth are required, because reference ranges depend on them.
• Build the order from the catalogue, set its priority, and print the sample's barcode label at the patient's side.
• Enter the results; another user verifies and releases them, because the person who entered a result cannot verify it.
• Print the report under your letterhead, or send it to the patient through the channels you set up.

7.Protect your data from day one

The program takes a verified backup every day. A backup on the same disk as the database is not enough: have the program copy it to an external drive, and keep that drive away from the computer.

8.Opening the program

Open CLARUS Prime from its shortcut; it opens in your browser. After the computer restarts, open it again from the shortcut.
