Every update of Clarus LIS that reached laboratories, newest first: the program, linking computers and branches, the Clarus LIS Manager app and the services on our server. Open any update to see what changed in it.
The laboratory and its branches work in one program: the laboratory's computers link on its network and its branches over the internet through a connection encrypted with the laboratory's own certificate, a patient's file and results reach every branch, each branch keeps working when the internet drops, and the laboratory can be reached safely from outside. With it, a more accurate printed report whose printed range is the one the result is judged by, a main menu in a new order, counts of the work waiting, and improvements to moving data and the order screen.
The manager can mark a patient's file as sensitive; it then opens only once whoever opens it states why, and the reason is kept in the audit trail.
The old file is marked as needing confirmation, and no result is sent to it until it is confirmed. And when a full name matches another file, the phone or the national ID is asked for before the file is used.
Tests waiting to be entered or approved, samples waiting to be drawn, received or sent to another laboratory, open quality-control violations, analysers that went offline, and stock under its minimum. Each user sees what their permissions open, anything late shows in red, and the counts refresh every minute.
A register of titles the laboratory owns ("Mr", "Miss", "Hajja"...); the title is suggested from sex and age, reception can change it, and it prints before the name on the report, the receipt and the messages.
In the laboratory or at another one: it is set for each test at the order's review step, and an external test goes straight to "Lab-to-Lab". The test catalogue's setting is now only the suggestion.
A "Reports & Delivery" module gathers report printing, release, amendments and patient communication; "Settings" is grouped by subject; and every screen has one place in the menu.
Choose several laboratories at once, edit a laboratory in a roomy window over the program, and a laboratory with shipments or payments is offered a stop instead of a delete.
The progress bar moves inside every table instead of looking frozen, and the stop button stops the move within seconds. Measured on a real laboratory's database: about 30,000 patients and 619,000 results in about 17 minutes.
A click on a test's card selects it alone without redrawing the whole screen: it took up to eight seconds on a slow computer with a large catalogue, and now takes under a quarter of a second.
Section, sample type, where it is done, active, missing LOINC or CPT codes or price, and offers.
45 reference ranges in the test catalogue printed one range and judged the result by another; now the printed range matches its numbers, and an installed laboratory is corrected on update without touching a range the laboratory edited or moved from its previous program. One result prints in every template, a value written in Arabic prints as written, and everything prints once.
The Arabic report names its parts in Arabic and writes dates with month names, and the catalogue's section names stay as the laboratory wrote them.
The results table carries earlier visits for blood counts and panels, the history chart shows the change, and the results are the largest thing on the page.
The semen analysis report follows the World Health Organization's 2021 standards.
Whoever amended a result is named, the printed copy says when it was printed, and the fingerprint of its verification code is written under it. Naming the laboratory that ran a referred test is now the laboratory's choice.
When a critical value is phoned and read back, a minus sign separated by a space and the arrows are refused instead of being read as another number. The haemoglobin percentage (Hgb%) no longer opens a false critical value in the blood count, and the log of critical-value calls is internal: it prints on the report only if the laboratory switches it on.
When an update is required it comes with a grace period and a countdown; printing and handing over approved results always stays available, and a laboratory that could not update is never locked.
The open program stays connected however long it runs, and a slow reply no longer counts as the end of the session. Every list says what it found or why it failed, with a way to try again, instead of staying empty, and the program is faster on every request.
The reader of names that showed garbled after moving was fixed, and installed copies are repaired automatically.
On the third and tenth days of the trial a reminder shows once, with a button to buy a licence and a QR code that opens the activation page for this computer.
One computer is the laboratory's server and the others work on it from the browser, each member of staff with an account of their own. You open the server to the laboratory's computers from one screen, "Open the server to the laboratory's workstations", with no technician: the program writes the settings, creates a certificate of your laboratory's own and opens the firewall port to the laboratory's private network only, once Windows agrees. The screen reads the network's category in Windows (Public or Private) and offers a button to make it private, the computer's name comes before its address, the laboratory's certificate renews itself if the computer's address changes so the workstations need not trust it again, and the certificate is shown on the sign-in screen to install on the workstations.
Each branch has its own server and database and exchanges what changed with the other branches every two minutes by itself, so it keeps working fully when the internet is down and catches up afterwards. Two branches are linked with a key created in one and entered in the other, typed or by QR code, and every package they exchange is signed. What they exchange travels over a connection encrypted with the laboratory's own certificate: each link vouches for the other branch's certificate once, with the link key itself, so no public certificate authority is relied on, and a certificate the key does not vouch for is refused.
What the laboratory had before its first link reaches the new branch, including the data from your previous program that you moved before linking.
A correction to a patient's details, a cancelled test, and two files of one patient merged into one; each tube has one status in every branch. The link between two branches can be paused, resumed and ended, and what arrives from the branches is applied batch after batch until it is done, so nothing gets stuck behind a message that cannot be applied.
A patient tested at one branch who visits another a month later finds their file and earlier results there. And two patients are never merged by mistake: every record is matched by where it was created and its number together, and any conflict is refused openly.
In every branch a result carries the name of the specialist who approved it, whichever branch they approved it at.
The manager signs in from any computer at any branch; a member of staff signs in at their own branch and at every branch the manager grants them, with the same account.
Each site of a chain has a number that its patient files and tubes are numbered from, so two branches never give one number to two patients, even when they register them while the internet is down. Order numbers carry the branch's prefix.
By one of three ways the laboratory chooses: Tailscale, a fixed address with a port on the router, or a VPN on the laboratory's router. Access from outside stays closed until the laboratory switches it on from inside, and every sign-in from outside needs two-step verification. The password for signing in from outside has at least 12 characters, and nothing changes for those working inside the laboratory.
On the result page of the laboratory's website the patient downloads the laboratory's own report as a PDF.
Add, remove and reorder your laboratory website's sections, with formatting, an image and a real preview.

The program looks for updates by itself whenever it is online; you download and install one in two clicks, with a copy to go back to, and updates are free for the life of the licence.
